Clinical psychology therapy · Woy Woy
Psychological therapy and EMDR.
Therapy with a Clinical Psychologist across the lifespan, provided face to face in Woy Woy and by telehealth.
What a psychologist brings
More than somewhere to talk.
A psychologist is trained to understand how thoughts, emotions, behaviour, relationships, health and life experiences can interact. Therapy brings structured assessment, a shared explanation of the problem and evidence-informed ways of working towards change.
The psychologist’s role is not to tell you how to live. It is to help you make sense of what is happening, decide what matters, try practical strategies and review whether the work is helping.
Make sense of the pattern.
Understand what may have contributed to the difficulty and what may be keeping it going.
Create a shared direction.
Turn broad concerns into clear goals that matter in everyday life.
Support practical change.
Practise evidence-informed strategies matched to the person and the clinical formulation.
Review what is helping.
Check progress together and adjust the approach when needed.

A possible therapy focus
Anxiety or low mood
Therapy may help you understand patterns that keep distress going, build practical ways of responding and review whether change is occurring.
